The Design Brief and Solution
Open and contemporary with lots of practical hidden storage was the brief for this elegant, bespoke dark brown kitchen in West Yorkshire. The use of Sherwood Dark Brown throughout the scheme ensures a sleek and sophisticated aesthetic, with overhead lighting accentuating the rich woodgrain to give a sense of warmth and homeliness. With functional storage a priority, the designer made the most of the room’s unusual layout by creating a corner pantry with full-height doors on the angled wall, ensuring ample space for cooking essentials. A second piece of bespoke furniture was created with the stylish concealed bar area, perfect for entertaining at home. It features large format pocket doors which can be opened up and slid back into the cabinets when guests descend or closed off to maintain the streamlined look when not in use. Additional full height units with stylish bar handles maximize the space on the back wall. The dark woodgrain teams effortlessly with the white quartz worktop on the large, angled island unit. A teardrop breakfast bar with seating for up to five people extends from the island to provide a space for cooking and casual dining, and the unusual shape of the island and breakfast bar has been reflected in the custom-made ceiling bulkhead to add visual interest to the scheme.
Designer’s Favorite Feature
“The bespoke corner larder and pocket door unit are our favorite design elements from this kitchen as both are unique and outside of the box.”
